Barry Toombs

Retired from playing in 1998 through injury and immediately successfully completed basic umpire’s course and started umpiring in the summer of 1999. Initially in the Two Counties League (Suffolk and North Essex) and, following a house move, joined the Norfolk Association of Cricket Officials in 2007. Has officiated at County 2nd XI and Minor Counties standards and is still currently on the East Anglian Premier League list where he’s umpired since 2003. From 2007 – 2014 was the Umpires’ Representative for the league. Between 2012 and 2014 was the Chairman of the ECB ACO London and East region. Once gave Mike Gatting out ‘LBW’ in an exhibition game. Mike said as he walked off the field “They’re here to see me, not you!” Good job he knows him quite well!
