Represented Lancashire at various levels in his youth but never managed a contract! As a batsman initially, achieved c.16,000 runs becoming league leading run scorer for one club and becoming the first Amateur to score over 1,000 runs in a season. Spent 2 seasons away in Lancashire league and Huddersfield League as a Pro! Took up bowling in 1991 and captured/conned 430 wickets in 13 seasons. Fondest memories were winning 10 league Championships, 9 Cup wins and 2 Lancashire Trophies before retiring from 1st XI. Serious cricket resumed with Over 50s (losing 2 finals) and Over 60s, becoming Champions in 2018 (36 wickets and 540 runs) and 2019 (34 and 3 for 5 in the final). Currently trying to ‘put something back’ into the game coaching at various youth ages and operating as a Grumpy Committee Man!!
