Neil ‘Stanley’ Stevens has been an active member of Eastcote Cricket Club in Middlesex for 50 years, also served on the committee in numerous capacities, most recently as Colts Manager, a position held for 10 years. Started playing senior cricket for Eastcote in the early 1970s, progressing to the 1st XI by 1978. Originally an opening batter and occasional medium pace bowler remaining so for most of his career. Towards the end of the 2002 season, after much badgering, Neil was finally allowed a few more overs and his career was transformed! Opening batter became opening bowler enabling Neil to prolong his league career and enjoy the experience of Seniors Cricket with Middlesex. As to career highlights, two stand out; winning the National Over 50s Championship in 2010 and winning the Middlesex League with Eastcote 3s in 2012, picking up 50 league wickets in the process. Still loves the game and intends to carry on playing as long as his body allows! A career banker, with NatWest and the Allied Irish Bank, Neil is eagerly looked forward to retirement in the not too distant future as work is getting in the way of his cricket!
