Representative honours for Richard have always been part of his cricketing life. Born in Loughborough, Leicestershire, into a cricketing family. Made his debut for Leicestershire CCC 2nd XI at 17 and played for 4 seasons before moving to Derbyshire CCC for a further 3 seasons. The teaching life took over but Richard soon found his way into Minor Counties cricket representing Dorset CCC and Cambridge CCC for the next 13 years. By now Richard was a Headmaster and so representative cricket took a back stage. Represented the very successful Derbyshire Over 50s winning the National title twice.
